Alluvial fans in Rocky Mountains
When landscapes come alive
Most of the settlements in the Alberta's Rockies and some in BC are built on dormant alluvial fans, natural formations of alluvial deposits carried by alpine streams during intense rainfalls.
In the context of climate change triggering an increased occurrence of intense and prolonged rainfalls, the question that arises is: what will happen with these dormant landscapes and how will they affect the settlements?
