Conceptual plan

Early sketches
An early sketch for the project proposed the use of colorful acrylic slats to build site furnishing

Sketch of the raised garden beds and how they'll create fun tunels

Circulation patterns on site
When analyzing a site it is crucial to understand the established circulation patterns and design in support of them, not against them

Play patterns at recess
The site analysis looked at the way students use the site during recess, trying to understand points of interest

Analysis of the existing infrastructure supporting passive and active play
The analysis revealed that almost all infrastructure supports active play, while passive interaction has almost no support. What this means is that students having a "quiet" day, or feeling less inclined to be active, have nowhere to sit or go. Evidence shows them lingering along the school walls or site perimeter, for the lack of an intentional amenity.

Legacy Gardens-Killarney Ellementary
Same as the interior of a house changes with every
owner without the need of tearing down the building, the LandRooms are outdoor ‘rooms’ that are designed to adapt and accommodate change.
Core of the Killarney Elementary's Legacy Gardens, the concept of LandRooms are empowering teachers
and students to reinvent their [outdoor] environment,
by designing and modeling it, to reflect their interest and spatial relevance.
