Easy there! Creating dementia-friendly spaces - a thoughtful approach to design.

When designing dementia-friendly environments, less is always more. While perception of color and pattern is different across the dementia spectrum, using high contrasting colours and zig-zagg-ing patterns can be perceived as aggressive and even to hide a potential danger, particularly when used on the ground.

The Carewest Caboodle uses a delicate floral pattern - a vine with closing loops, that acts as a guide across the site. One George Boyack resident used the looping vine throughout the summer to walk back and forth the site, always relying the ground mural vine will bring her home.
